In February of 2022, Corey Allen – UNPHU Music’s academic director, and Federico Mendez – UNPHU’s guitar program coordinator travelled to Hamburg, Germany to work with the students of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (HfMT).

The Hochschule honored Maestro Allen by presenting an entire concert of his compositions and arrangements. The concert featured the HfMT Big Band, members of the Hochschule’s string department, their Jazz Vocal ensemble and numerous student soloists from the HfMT and from UNPHU including the outstanding young Dominican violinist José Francisco Pérez.

The highlight of the evening was the premiere of Mr. Allen’s newest work, “The Dominican Suite – Amor, Vida y Felicidad” for Flute and Big Band with flautist Prof. Fiete Felsch as the soloist.

In August of 2022, seven members of UNPHU Music (four students and 3 faculty members) will attend the Glomus Camp in Aarhus, Denmark.

In September of 2022, four students and 3 faculty members of UNPHU Music will travel to Da Capo Escuela de Música in Monterey, Mexico to attend the “Second Congress of the Present and Future of the Music Industry” in Monterey, Mexico.
